Whenever my birthday comes around, I try as much as possible to be grateful for where I am at that point in time instead of focusing on the things I am yet to achieve.
2017 has been a beautiful year. By beautiful I mean, both the good and trying times that have helped me become a better person. I started the year with the mindset of personal growth. Alot of my mates are married with kids, have stable jobs and making a name for themselves. I felt like I was stuck in the same spot; emotionally, financially, intellectually and in my career. After my graduation in June, I really took a moment to take stock of my life. I realized I was comparing myself to others my age. *sigh* What a sad thing to do. From that point on, I decided to be thankful for all that I have and am. For the fact that I have a dream to chase, the opportunity to do so and an amazing support system to help me get there.
I started reading again, I started praying and studying the Word of God more, I started to make useful content and started to work ‘smart’. I am still far from my goal ( clothing line and lifestyle brand) but I believe I’m on the right track. ^.^
There are a few things I have learnt in my 27 years so far. I thought it will be great to share some of them with you, hopefully they will be of help to you.
- Be Open
- Love others as much as you love youself
- Family is very importnat
- Have a small circle of friends
- Plan. Plan. Plan.
- Don’t take yourself too serious all the time. Learn to laugh at yourself.
- Have a savings account. You never know when you will need extra money.
- Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams.
- Smile often.
- Make time for yourself often
- Be prayerful. I cannot handle life’s hurdles on my own strength.
