Hey Beauties!

Jorge and I planned a trip to Nigeria to finally meet my family and discover what my home country is really like. See our proposal story here. We have been planning this trip for about four months. We purchased our flight tickets as early as February. Our flight out of London was scheduled for the 11th of June, 2017. We arrived the airport to find out the airline we booked the tickets with had gone bankrupt and cancelled all their international flights. I was so heartbroken and disappointed. Firstly, who cancels flights and doesn’t inform customers who have purchased tickets from them. Secondly, I was sad I didn’t do my research properly before buying tickets from that airline.

I cried like a baby at the airport for some good 10 minutes. I haven’t seen my family in three years and I really wanted Jorge to meet them too.

To get over the disappointment of my failed holiday and help us relax, Jorge and I decided to take a short trip somewhere nice to recover from the shock. We decided on somewhere in the U.K. and close to the coast. Bournemouth! I remember seeing pictures online of this sunny small beach town in the south of the U.K. It was literally love at first sight. We quickly booked everything necessary for the trip (Jorge did most of this, lol).

We stayed at Bournemouth for about 48 hours. It is such a beautiful town. We got a cozy studio apartment via Airbnb for our stay. The room was just 2 minutes walk from the beach! The town is a diverse mix of people because of it’s location and the presence of a college. These attract people from all over the world. It was a two hours train ride from London Westminster to Bournemouth.

It was such a beautiful trip, I felt so refreshed being there. Although the trip was short, it was nice to get away from work and the bustling London life for that duration. Do you have any holiday plans this summer?
