The adage “no man is an island” wasn’t created for the mere sake of ‘wise sayings’. I have personally come to a point in my life, career and relationships with others were I fully acknowledge the fact that I CANNOT do it all myself.
It is physically, biologically, spiritually, financially or emotionally impossible to go through life alone. Modern society always encourages us to be independent and I believe everyone should know ‘thy self’ to the point of true self recognition. But if everyone stays in their own boat and pays no attention to the well-being of others or fails to seek help when needed, then we will soon all be sinking ships going down together. I am not preaching complete dependence on others either, no. The message embedded in today’s post is to have a heart so open to help others when there is the opportunity and do not be too proud to ask for assistance or guidance when you honestly need it.
Let’s learn from the relationship between the bee and the flower. Bees fly from flower to flower gathering nectar, which they make into food, benefiting the bees. When they land in a flower, the bees get some pollen on their hairy bodies, and when they land in the next flower, some of the pollen from the first one rubs off, pollinating the plant. This benefits the plants. In this mutualistic relationship, the bees get to eat, and the flowering plants get to reproduce. Necsi.edu
If simple animals like bees, ants and birds unknowing look out for other living organisms in nature, why can’t we as higher animals do the same? The sad case is when it comes to humans, we look for the slightest opportunity to take what belongs to another, gossip the progress of others or nurture envy in our hearts because someone seems to be doing better than us. ☹….
Despite the fact that it is easier said than done, there has to be a change in our character. Let’s treat each other with more love. Simply treat people how you’d like to be treated. It starts with preventing that negative thought from growing. Conquer the mind and the body would follow. ╰☆╮
